  • Check-in code: letter = terminal, number = desk (A100–199 in Terminal A, B200–299 in B, C300–399 in C).
  • Airlines: In a sample taken from 25 to 27 September 2026, Lufthansa and Eurowings mostly checked in at Terminal A, TUI fly at B or C depending on the flight, and Turkish Airlines and Pegasus at C – this can change, so check the online flight schedule.

  • HAJway: free time slot for the security check.
  • S-Bahn S5: the suburban train stops directly beneath Terminal C.

Terminal A: Schengen flights and evening-before check-in

Terminal A is the first terminal on the approach road – this is where the official sat nav address takes you. According to Wikipedia, it handles Schengen flights and is regarded as the “Star Alliance terminal”. It houses check-in desks A100 to A199, including the desks for evening-before check-in; car park P1 is about a one-minute walk away.

Terminal B: Service Center and lost and found

Terminal B adjoins A directly and is mainly used for Schengen flights. Since 2024, there have been flexible security checkpoints between A and B. The check-in desks here are numbered B200 to B299. The Airport Service Center is on the arrivals level: this is where you can get information and reach the lost and found office – around the clock, according to the airport.

Terminal C: the largest terminal, with S-Bahn station

Terminal C is the third terminal on Flughafenstraße, directly next to Terminal B. It opened in 1998, was renovated from 2018 to 2020 and is the largest terminal, with desks C300 to C399. It is mainly used for flights outside the Schengen Area. For such destinations, for example Turkey or Egypt, there is an additional passport control. The S-Bahn station is directly beneath it: the S5 runs every 30 minutes and takes about 15 to 18 minutes to Hannover Hauptbahnhof (central station). Car park P3 is about a one-minute walk away. According to the airport, taxis wait right outside the exits on the ground-level arrivals level, and the stop for bus route 470 is between the Maritim Airport Hotel and car park P3.

Terminal D stands on its own near car parks P4 and P6 and has been back in regular operation on an occasional basis at peak times since July 2023. From its three bus gates, a bus takes you to the aircraft; check-in is in Terminal C. There is also the Karl-Jatho-Terminal (GAT) for general aviation.

Opening hours: is Hannover Airport open at night?

Yes. According to the airport, operating hours are 00:00 to 24:00, and there is no general night-flight ban. The reason: according to the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economic Affairs, the operating licence generally permits 24-hour operation. Instead of a ban, noise restrictions apply: between 23:00 and 05:59, only aircraft that stay below certain noise limits, which depend on take-off weight, may take off and land, and certain aircraft must generally use the northern runway between 22:00 and 05:59. This night-flight rule is in place until 31 December 2029. Flights do operate in the middle of the night: for Saturday, 26 September 2026, the online flight schedule showed 15 departures between 00:00 and 04:00, most of them to Turkey (retrieved on 25 September 2026).
